This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My first graders are working on building addition and subtraction fluency on a daily basis. We work on different strategies to master adding and subtracting to 10 before moving on to 20. The magnetic flash cards being requested are going to be so useful to use in whole group or in a small group setting. These cards will also help us build financial literacy skills as we learn to count money and give back change. Our little store can use these small items for purchase, such as rubber bracelets, lollipops, bubble wands, and sticky hands.

Number sense is a major cluster we work on in first grade and I'd like to continue building a strong foundation and building financial literacy skills as well.

I am also requesting paper and pencil sharpeners to have my students write their number sentences on paper and to add and subtract the amount of the items being sold with play money. They love our classroom store and we must continue to sharpen our math financial skills.
