Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My fifth graders are comprised of low socioeconomic families, ranking our school as Title I. My student groups are made up of a variety of learners. I teach math to English as a Second Language Learners, gifted and talented, special education and general education students.
But above all, my students enjoy putting pencil to paper as they work in their interactive math notebooks!
My students use their interactive notebooks to take notes in, build anchor charts, and to glue in their interactive math foldables. They enjoy creating interactive notebooks as a means to display the knowledge of their skills and creating a notebook that they can also use as a math study guide!
My Project
These composition notebooks will enhance my students learning. An interactive notebook in classroom is a place where students can create their own personal learning "book." These composition notebooks are a means for students to take direct ownership of their learning. They can organize their class notes when learning new math skills, re-create math anchor charts of strategies, and can also store interactive math foldables. These composition notebooks will transform from an ordinary notebook to become an interactive learning tool for my students to reference when they are either working in class or as a study guide when preparing for exams.
