My Students

My spunky 5th grade students live in rural south central Kentucky. They are a loving and kind bunch of kiddos. With each challenge they face in the classroom, they exhibit a growth mindset. They truly enjoy learning and look forward to coming to school each day. They master new tasks daily.

Whether it be coding, mathematics, or reading, my students exhibit eagerness and excitement to grow as both learners and human beings.

I am proud to teach such a wonderful bunch of kids.

My Project

What is one of those most fundamental items in a classroom? The most fundamental of them all is a pencil. Our students are lacking a working pencil sharpener. This makes it extremely difficult to utilize our pencils as learning tools.

Pencils are a necessity and our pencil sharpener has broken.

My students are using dull pencils or having to interrupt other classes to go and sharpen their pencils. Not only is this a nuisance, but we are losing instruction time and interrupting others who are trying to learn. Pencil sharpeners are basic, but often taken for granted. We are in need of a new one to help us learn!
