My Students

We have a high rate of free and reduced lunch program students and a very active and supportive parent teacher organization. Our school is situated in the middle of a neighborhood in a suburban town. The students at our school are excited to learn about artists and different art styles. They are actively engaged in the learning process during art class and are willing to take risks in this setting. They are also able to delve into their creative side!

My Project

Each year my students create zentangle artwork during our study on line and pattern. With 650 students we go through sharpies and markers like crazy during this project. Students use the sharpies to create lines and patterns then use markers (and sometimes crayons or colored pencils) to add color to their artwork. The students are excited to try and create the most unusual patterns and often challenge each other during the creative process. They are very successful with this project and their confidence builds both during and after the project. By finding this project, my students will be able to create beautiful and colorful zentangle art!
