Mrs. Quick from Albany NY is requesting supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need pencil sharpeners to keep them prepared for daily lessons, and mechanical pencils to save them time during tests.

Benjamin Franklin once said, "By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail." Unfortunately, not all of my students are able to come to school prepared for success every day.
My school is located in a high-poverty community in New York's Capital Region.
Most of my students live in the neighborhood that surrounds my school. Despite the obstacles that they face on a daily basis, my students come to school every day wanting to learn and willing to do whatever it takes to work towards a brighter future.
I am requesting pencils and pencil sharpeners. By providing my classroom with pencil sharpeners, you will allow me to give my students the most basic tool to show what they know - a perfectly sharpened #2 pencil. While my students may not come to school prepared with every resource they need to be successful, I will be able to provide them with at least this to get them started. By providing my classroom with a set of mechanical pencils, you will allow me to save my students time and energy on test days because they won't need to waste a moment during their assessment to stop and ask for a sharp new pencil.
Donating to this project will give my students the ability to truly show what they know in my classroom.
Instead of spending an endless amount of time using the broken down pencil sharpeners at my school, I will be able to use that time to provide extra help to my students thanks to new pencil sharpeners. Instead of my students breaking their concentration in order to request a new pencil during a test, they will be able to focus on their assessment using their new mechanical pencils.
