Sharp Pencils Create Sharp Minds!

Help me give my students the chance to work with sharp pencils. The manual sharpeners break easily and the cheaper electric sharpeners break from heavy use. I would love to get this industrial one for them.

My Students

I am a middle school teacher that has been teaching for 12 years. I am always striving to keep my teaching style fresh so that I can pass that knowledge and enthusiasm onto my students.

My students come from diverse backgrounds.

Some have their needs met, while others have greater struggles. I look for ways to reach every one of my students, to equalize their opportunities as best as I am able. They are an energetic group of 11 and 12-year-olds that are still excited about learning. I want to help each of them to have the wonderful educational experiences that I had growing up, to help end encourage them to be life-long learners. I know if we don't catch them in 6th grade, they can be lost to education forever.

My Project

My students are constantly frustrated over the pencil sharpeners in my room breaking all the time and have to resort to small, hand-help sharpeners from the dollar store. I haven’t had much luck with either manual or electric sharpeners, as both break easily from heavy use. I believe that this industrial pencil sharpener that I am hoping to have funded, will be the best solution. It will be a blessing in my classroom to help avoid distractions and help keep my students on task in completing their schoolwork neatly and efficiently.
