Sharks in Danger: Understanding Human Impact on Ocean Life
Please help me give my students shark dissection to explore the impact of human activities on shark populations and biodiversity through hands-on resources that inspire conservation and scientific inquiry.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are inquisitive learners who thrive when given hands-on opportunities to explore science. However, they often lack access to engaging lab experiences that bring biology to life. This project will provide my students with shark dissection kits, allowing them to explore anatomy, biodiversity, and the impact of human activities on marine ecosystems in a tangible way.
By dissecting sharks, my students will better understand vertebrate structures, adaptations, and ecological roles.
This experience will help them connect theoretical knowledge to real-world science, reinforcing key concepts in biology while sparking curiosity about conservation and marine life.
I aim to inspire the next generation of scientists by making learning interactive and memorable. My students are unique because, despite facing many challenges, they are eager to engage in meaningful scientific inquiry. With this project, they will develop critical thinking skills and cultivate a greater appreciation for biodiversity and the importance of protecting ocean life.
