Many of my students are black and brown, refugees / immigrants, and almost all are from low socio-economic or depressed neighborhoods just outside a major US city. They receive free or reduced lunch. Many of them work to help support their families and 73% of them speak another language at home.
During the pandemic, access to technology and peripherals made it really frustrating and accessing learning was many times impossible.
Many students wanted to quit, give up or just work. That really hurt my heart. One of our greatest assets is what we can create and accomplish together, and I am so excited my students will be returning back in-person!
My students are really smart, eager to learn new technology, and humbly help their fellow students along without complaint. A large number of students arrive at our school without any computer skills. My classes give them the opportunity to be successful in a technology-assisted world, where they can find success when language isn't necessarily a barrier.

My Project
Our students are ready to come back and express their lives after a year and a half of remote home learning. One of the best ways is through playing music, dance, and singing together.
We need a microphone, a keyboard, and a DJ controller to que up the next songs for live performance.
Our students are so talented but they need the equipment to plan out their ideas, write lyrics or poetry, make beats or plan performances of their favorite songs. Please help us bring up the mood with music for our students this Fall!
