Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is in a lower working-class neighborhood, with a high ELL population. We have a very culturally diverse class that includes students who speak five different languages.
My students this year struggle academically, but they have a high interest in the arts and creative expression.
They are highly motivated to do both group and individual projects to show their understanding of a topic. I'd like to find new ways to give my students more creative and authentic assessments of their learning.
My Project
My current students have been struggling academically for the past few years, but as a group they are very social, very animated, and very comfortable performing in front of each other.
In this world where YouTube is such a big part of kids' lives, I'd like to give my students more chances to create content that shows what they are learning.
I'd like to add two more cameras to our classroom so I can have my students create videos in smaller groups to show what they are learning in a more engaging way. I have video ideas for social studies, science, math, and language arts that I would like to try out.
