Help me give my students rocks and paints for the opportunity to create and spread kindness throughout our community.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Senna's classroom raised $279

My Students
My students are excited learners who love to read and try new technology in our Library Media Center. I have the pleasure of seeing every classroom of students K-5 twice a week. I love seeing my 5th graders enthusiastically stopping me in the hall to tell me they already finished their book and they want to swap it out. I love the hugs I get when I see my Kinders and their belly laughs when we have a silly read aloud. I am constantly amazed at the clever ideas they come up with when they build with Keva planks or code on Scratch.
Despite outside circumstances that challenge my students daily, they arrive to school motivated, positive and excited to learn.
Our school community is an incredibly diverse and welcoming one. I love providing them with engaging literacy and technology experiences to enhance their learning and challenge their thinking! I love what I do and the children I share my days with!
My Project
A big push this year due to the pandemic and the challenges included with these unusual and uncertain times is a greater focus on Social-Emotional Learning. Students are stressed and are learning in an atypical environment.
Our school library is a welcoming place for growing, learning, creating and collaborating together.
I would like students to design and create their own kindness rock. We will have conversations about feelings we have and the types of words, phrases and actions that help make someone smile and feel better. Students will gain the opportunity to learn that sharing kindness can also intrinsically reward us because of the positive impact we receive from giving to others.
In the library we utilize the Engineering Design Process. When creating a project we ask questions, imagine idea, plan our project, create our design and improve our work as needed. The engineering design process would be incorporated into our kindness rock efforts.
