My Students
As the Media Specialist, I have the great fortune of working with all 500 of the energetic and eager-to-learn children at our PreK-5th grade Title I school!
We are located in East Greensboro.
79% of our students come from an economically disadvantaged background and 9.5% of our students begin Kindergarten with Kindergarten Readiness skills. Approximately 20% of our student population are English Language Learners. Our students work hard and they love to learn and grow.
Through the school library, we are so excited to offer relevant, current reading materials to engage our students and provide them with the opportunity to develop and strengthen their reading and comprehension skills and to grow into lifelong learners and readers.
My Project
We are in need of new and updated biographies to inspire our growing readers! The average age of the biography collecting in our Media Center is 1998. Many of the biographies on our shelves are about current people, but are very out of date.
Our students need to discover and explore interesting and inspiring historical figures, artists, scientists, athletes, and more on our shelves!
The biography collection is the least visited area in our Media Center and I want to help change this by being able to offer engaging, new titles to grab our readers' attention.
