My Students

Many of the students in my classroom have experienced trauma in their lives, and school is their safe place. They come to school to escape what is happening at home. My classroom serves students with a range of disabilities, including intellectual disabilities, emotional disturbance, autism spectrum disorder, and specific learning disabilities.

The typical student in my class struggles with basic phonemic awareness and letter recognition.

About 90% of my students are African American or Latino. The opportunity and achievement gaps are apparent among our student population.

My Project

I am requesting an easel to display our anchor charts. We make anchor charts for everything and I would like to display them so the students can see them, at their level. With this teaching tool, I can display the charts that we make for each subject. And with the storage on the other side, I can easily change the paper to show what we are doing. This is a multipurpose easel that doubles as a stage center is a resourceful tool for all of our visual aides. We are also asking for chart paper and dry erase markers to help make this tool for other uses.
