Help me give my students the gift of reading! I read this book with my 12-year-old this summer, and I think it is the perfect book to share with my 5th graders before they venture to middle school.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach 5th grade at an elementary school in South Los Angeles.
Even though their lives outside of school may be difficult, my students are completely focused on meeting their educational goals and are striving to be the best they can be.
My Project
We will be reading Wonder by R.J. Palacios to not only meet the reading and writing standards but to also help develop their social-emotional skills.
Through the novel, my students will learn valuable lifelong lessons.
Empathy, kindness, friendship, and self-love are all themes in this text that can carry them through 5th grade and beyond.
I know that this novel will help my students be good, productive citizens. Please help me give them the opportunity to dive deep into this novel and emerge more understanding, mature individuals. Thank you.
