SHS is a public school located in Massachusetts. All of our students receive free or reduced-price lunches. Nearly all my students are from low‑income households. On my drive into school every day I frequently see students walking without the proper clothing to stay warm. I can only imagine that at times the cold deters students from coming to school. My students would like to create a hats and mittens tree. A tree that would be decorated with hats, gloves, mittens, and scarfs and would be a place where students can feel comfortable taking what they need to stay warm.
