This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students include 5th and 6th grade students are interested in learning, and enjoy technology and hands on activities, as well as independent projects. They reside in an inner-city, high poverty area, but that does not distract from their ability to dream big and have an excitement for learning and creating.
Though not every family is the same, we have many families that struggle to provide basic school supplies, let alone have the funds to have technology access at home.
My students need resources in their classroom to complete their work that can not be shared, and cleaning supplies that will allow us to feel safer about being in session.
My Project
Students will be back in session starting September and we need to be prepared! COVID 19 has set us in a position where we can no longer share teacher owned materials with students that do not have their own. This project is looking for funds to purchase class sets of materials that can be distributed to students to keep in their desks, along with cleaning materials to keep our room free of the daily germs, as well as the COVID 19 virus.
Unfortunately, not all students come to school prepared with their own materials and supplies, mainly due to financial constraints on their families.
If we are funded this project will allow for students to have their own materials in their desk so they are prepared to work and not embarrassed that they do not have materials. Usually, we could just share, and pass out teacher materials, but that is no longer a possibility with COVID 19.
