Our math unit on 2D and 3D shapes is coming up! I have so many students who are hands-on learners, I would love for them to have more than just pattern blocks and Magformer shape magnets to explore.
What better way to learn about shapes than getting lots of opportunities to explore them!?
This project would give my students several new ways to interact with both 3D and 2D shapes. My students love our shape magnets! They are the first math bucket choice to be made every single day. This project would give my students 3D magnet blocks to build and explore as well. The 3D craft kit would enable students to make creations they can then share with their families and have a chance to show off all of the vocabulary we're learning at school in a fun, meaningful way. Students will be able to build both 2D and 3D shapes with several of the materials and talk about straight sides, corners, and curves while they are building. Jumbo magnets will make introducing shapes easy for my students to see and also a fun way for them to sort, compare, and manipulate shapes throughout our shape unit.
