My Students
My students range in ages 3 to 5 and are enrolled in a Head Start program. They come from many different ethnicities and lower income backgrounds. My classroom may be the only exposure to to early learning they will receive before entering kindergarten. I want to make this experience a memorable one while they are with me. Some of my students are learning letter recognition and writing and others are learning to interact with peers for the first time. This opportunity will give them the ability to explore and learn while having fun!
My Project
The materials I have selected will provide my students with the ability to learn their shapes and alphabet through art. My students love to explore through the art area and are often wanting new and different items added.
The alphabet cards will provide my students with a new and exciting way on learning the alphabet.
Some of my students are not able to hold a writing utensil with a 3 finger grasp, so therefore writing the letters are very difficult. These cards will give them the ability to make the letters in a new and different way. The shape cards will give the ability to explore and make shapes while improving fine motor skills.
