My Students

The beat is what keeps music going, kind of like our heartbeat is what keeps US going. Help us keep the music alive with these wonderful shakers!

My students are hard workers, who go to school in a high needs area.

They love learning to play musical instruments and expanding their musicianship skills. Many of my students are English Language Learners, but we all work together using the universal language: music!

My Project

Learning to recognize and keep the beat is the foundation for good musicianship. Young students learn this vital skill through movement like marching and moving their bodies to the beat. The shakers are an important link between students showing the beat and recognizing the beat that they hear. By holding the shakers while showing the beat kinesthetically, the link between what they hear and they see is made clear for the students.

What better way to show students that the motions they're making match the beat of the music they hear?

Our super shakers will have our little musicians keeping the beat like pros!
