My Students

Science should be hands-on. These items will help to create more labs. It will give my students hands on lessons and activities on earthquakes and seismic waves.

Our school is located on the windward side of the island of Oahu, in the state of Hawaii.

The per capita income for the town is $16,089 and nearly 50% of the population is Hawaiian or Pacific Islander. About 75% of students are eligible for free or reduced-price lunch. The student population is about 92% Hawaiian or Pacific Islander.

My Project

The Earth Shakes Lab Investigation will allow students to model the different type of faults and the destruction it causes to the Earth's crust. The class can create the different type of seismic waves to better understand the movement of the Earth. The Seismograph Model will show my students how an actual seismograph is used to study earthquakes and the layers of the Earth.

Having these items for my science class will increase lab time and hands on learning.

The students can play the role of investigating scientist to discover the topics of plate tectonics, earthquakes, rocks, and volcanoes. They will be able to demonstrate the awesome power of earthquakes!
