Shake Our Sillies Out

My Students

I have the pleasure to teach 18 of the sweetest 4 and 5 year old Pre-kindergarten students. The students qualify for the program due to special needs, academic challenges and family financial distress. Our school is a Title I school on the outskirts of Charlotte, NC.

Several of my students have special learning needs, and all have financial challenges making ends meet at home.

But, they all come to school ready to learn and love every minute of it. Our school is fortunate to have several garden boxes where students help plant and harvest crops. Hands-on learning is essential for giving students a sense of accomplishment. Your donation will help my students in the classroom and broaden their experiences.

My Project

Pre-K students are naturally active and energetic people. My class has no recess materials.

If my project is fully funded our recess time will be more structured and more intentional.

We will be able to go to the field with materials that give direction but flexibility. The variety pack of balls gives students an opportunity to learn and explore in multiple ways.

When students are active, they are better able to enter the classroom ready for learning. My students will learn to share, take turns, teamwork, and problem solving. The social-emotional implications from learning during recess are underrated. These life skills are learned at this level.
