My Project

Natural disasters like earthquakes are powerful reminders of the importance of science, engineering, and preparedness. My fourth-grade students are curious and eager to learn about how the world works—and they especially love hands-on experiences that let them become real scientists and engineers. With your support, we hope to bring an earthquake shaker table into our classroom so students can design, build, and test model structures. This tool will help them explore how buildings can be made safer and stronger during earthquakes.

The shaker will allow us to simulate real earthquake vibrations on student-built structures, helping them apply principles of engineering, physics, and problem-solving in an engaging, memorable way.

Students will work collaboratively to test materials, experiment with design choices, and analyze what causes buildings to fail or succeed during a quake. This project brings science to life and helps students see the impact of engineering in everyday life, which is especially important for many of our students who live in areas where earthquakes are a real risk.

Your donation will empower my students to explore STEM in a meaningful and creative way. By supporting this project, you're not just helping us purchase a tool—you’re helping students develop critical thinking, teamwork, and resilience. Thank you for considering a gift that will spark curiosity, inspire future engineers, and strengthen our learning community.
