This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I have been given the fabulous opportunity to teach middle school students how to sew. The materials requested will be able to be used for years. Sewing is an important skill and students at my school are eager to learn. I am requesting a couple of sewing machines and sewing notions to be able to make the class successful for all.

My goals for this project is to teach middle schoolers how to correctly and effectively use a sewing machine and supplies needed to create one of a kind pieces.

Teaching students how to sew improves their communication skills, teaches them how to follow step-by-step directions, taps into their creative side, teaches them patience, and also develops their fine motor skills. It would be a great opportunity for young students to be able to learn this life skill.

My students are ready and eager to learn how to sew and these materials would set them on the right path.
