My students are really lovely kids—hardworking, funny, and bright. They live in a very disadvantaged community, where resources are scarce and teachers have to work really hard to acquire supplies and plan enrichment activities.
My students do their best to comply with all that we require of them, which means a large amount of test prep and a small amount of recess.
As their teacher, I owe it to them to try to bring fun and creativity to our school year to the best of my ability.
Many of my students have special needs, ranging from learning differences to emotional disturbances, and it's important to me to make learning fun and enjoyable for them.
My Project
My afterschool art and design club are always in search of our next fun project, and I have decided to include friendship bracelets and pom-poms this fall! We need yarn to make cute little pom-poms that can be turned into Christmas tree ornaments, keychains, garlands, and so many more things! We need embroidery string to turn into beautiful friendship bracelets.
The students in my after school club will love learning these new skills, and it will give them something to do with their friends in the lunchroom besides getting loud and get into trouble.
Crafting, as a hobby, inspires creativity and peacefulness, so help me teach my students some skills that they can use their whole lives to promote mental well-being!
