My Project

How can I give back to my students, besides teaching math? "Sew Simple", I plan to teach my students how to thread a sewing machine, bobbin, and some sewing basics. In the end our scholars will create a beautiful stuffed animal pillow and they will be able to have a skill that they can use for a lifetime.

I would like to start a sewing club at my school to teach at least 10 students the basics of sewing.

Every year, at the beginning of school, my scholars and I share some of our interests. One of my interests is sewing and I show them a dress that I created several summers ago. I have even hemmed a few items in class. Several scholars have asked me to show them how.

At this point, I have 4 machines, but I would like to have 6 additional ones. I would love to sew with a class of 10 students and create a "Sewing Club" for our scholars. I want to use my knowledge to give students basic sewing lessons, make a few crafts, and allow them to take the machines home to practice and create something wonderful!
