This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are bright, sassy, and so very funny. Every day, they bring their energy and good humor and every day I meet them with a smile. Unfortunately, most of them are in a very low socioeconomic demographic. They live in an urban area and although it is only about five miles to the nearest coast, many of them have never been to the beach.

Knowing that they are lacking the opportunities that, as an adolescent, I took for granted, it is my desire to expose them to our amazing world within the walls of our classroom.

My Project

In the urban district where I teach, there are approximately 120 students in my four science classes. I believe this is a critical time in their young lives; a time when they will either continue their love of science, or join the masses who have made the decision that it is boring and too difficult.

Although I strive to make my lessons fun and engaging, I have very little to work with that can support hands-on, exploratory learning.

With your donation, I know I will be able to reinvigorate their interests and extend their excitement in science! When we begin our section on resource availability, the owl pellets will surely engage their curiosities.
