My students need basic supplies such as glue, scissors, and notebooks.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Every real scientist keeps a laboratory notebook! My students want to do the same! My seventh grade scientists want to be able to record data in notebooks, draw diagrams and graphs in color, measure objects with rulers, and overall learn what it means to keep a detailed scientific notebook.
My students are awesome!
They are so interested in science and studying the world around them, and are eager to become real scientists. They attend a great school, but face some challenges. Despite what some may call setbacks, my students want to do nothing but learn!
My Project
The resources I am requesting will all be used to make "publication kits" which the students will use to put together their science notebooks. Everything, and I mean everything, we do in class goes in the notebook. This is to mimic how real laboratory scientists use a notebook to copy down all of their observations and procedures and data in the lab. Class notes are written in the notebook, and certain extra worksheets or handouts are cut out and glued in. To further process class notes, students will often draw diagrams, data tables and graphs. In addition to the lab notebook, students will keep a ring of index cards on which to write vocabulary terms. This way they can have their vocab with them at all times. Students will also be equipped with white boards and markers so that we can do quick and fun quizzes in class, and I can check to make sure everyone is grasping the material.
To interact in the scientific community, one must be able to think, communicate and work according to the norms established.
As a scientist, you must demonstrate the process skills of keeping a proper laboratory notebook. I have a strong desire to equip my students with the skills they need to be real scientists; this will put them in the position to take honors or AP level courses in high school and prepare them for college courses. Keeping a notebook will also teach them organization skills.
