My students are 13 to 18 years old and play high school basketball. Between the Freshmen, JV, and Varsity teams, over 50 young men are committed to improving their lives through this meaningful team sport.
Simply put, my students have an incredible work ethic and desire to be great.
They would live in the gym if they could. They voluntarily show up at 6:00am before school to workout and stay after school, sometimes for hours, working on their game. They are learning how to manage their time, playing a game they love while maintaining a high level of success in the classroom.
In addition to their athletic and academic success, they have had opportunities to serve their local community, including feeding and clothing the local homeless. This is a humble, selfless, and compassionate group of guys that are hungry to improve their lives, both on the court and off.
My Project
Our school is comprised of great administrators and support staff, hard-working teachers, and roughly 2,000 of the most amazing high school students the world has to offer. We work together, watch out! Our school is a great place for academics, fine arts, and sports. From the classroom to the athletic facilities, our students work extremely hard in all areas. It is truly a joy to be a part of a well-oiled machine, and it is a great joy to know that these students will help lead our nation in years to come.
Unfortunately, we are not rewarded financially for our high achievement in all areas.
Teachers and coaches have a tough choice to make. Keep using the same old stuff until it is useless, nickel and dime parents for necessary resources and materials, pay out of pocket. Or, go through the arduous fundraising process knowing that good people and companies, like you, will help!
So, here we are, and we need our help!
You simply cannot play the sport of basketball at the highest level without quality equipment! Our needs are simple: basketballs to replace the old and worn out ones we currently use, as well as additional training aids to improve their skills on the court. These items will contribute greatly to our practices and skill development.
