My students need chair protectors in order to be able to move quickly and efficiently into groups without disturbing others. Also, they need different colored markers.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
All of my students have different needs and are special in their own way. While some students thrive working independently, others need the extra support from their peers and teacher. Regardless of how they work, it is clear that our classroom is a community of learners.
Our community of learners is full of singers, actors, writers, scientists, and athletes who are eager to learn and thrive.
They are respectful young members who are very appreciative of what they receive. Just last year, the school was fortunate enough to receive Chromebooks and the students were ecstatic! They took care of those Chromebooks as if they were their own and really appreciated the opportunity to be able to work as 21st century learners. Despite being so lucky with the Chromebooks, the school cannot fund every material that is necessary to the students' success, which is why I am here.
My Project
A majority of the students learn from each other and thus group work is imperative in a classroom setting. This year I will be co-teaching a mainstream English class where students with special needs will be integrated. In order to ensure that both teachers and students can work efficiently in a classroom environment without distractions, the students' desks need to have chair covers. The chair covers will allow students to quickly and quietly, most importantly, move into their designated groups. The groups will be a daily activity as students will be able to join a reteach, practice, or teach group. These groups will serve as reinforcement activities. As any teacher knows, trying to have a group of thirty 12 year olds move desks into groups can create a ruckus. The chair covers will hopefully eliminate the noise and thus help minimize any distraction from other students.
Your project will make a difference by showing our students that there are people out there who support them, no matter how big or small their need is.
Something as simple as these chair covers will allow them to get into their groups in a quicker, more efficient way.
