Our school focuses on developing well-rounded and respectful young scholars. I was completely blown away from the first time stepped foot into the school. There is a strong sense of community between the teachers, administration, and the students, and I can tell that there is a real investment in the success of this school's fine arts programs.
My students are my inspiration.
They challenge me to continue researching, performing, and creating. I hope to offer them a thorough musical education and to provide learning opportunities that are both engaging and meaningful. As I like to tell my students, excellence is not an accident. It is a daily pursuit. I can honestly say that I have an excellent group of students, who work with diligence and honor to be the best version of themselves.
At the beginning of rehearsal each day, my students and I warm-up our bodies, minds, and voices through a sequence of exercises. I work diligently to bring new warm-ups to the class to keep the children engaged and focused. The resources such as the Choral Warm-Up books and the Tuning Fork will allow for more diverse learning materials.
As the students learn the exercises, they will have the opportunity to lead the class in warm-ups.
This gives the children a sense of ownership in the process. They will learn rounds to build their musical independence and madrigals to learn about intonation and working together.
