Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As I prepare to welcome new students in my 4th year of teaching, I am looking for ways to make them feel comfortable and welcomed into our class environment.

Having materials on hand including snacks, pens, pencils etc.

guarantees that students are able to feel prepared for class each day so that they are ready to approach the material with confidence and energy. Some of them arrive to school late after dropping off siblings and many arrive having missed breakfast. All students should be able to go to their classes and learn without hunger hanging over them while they are learning, or the worry of being unprepared for the day.

Additionally, I am looking to revamp my classroom decor to create spaces in the classroom to display student work in ways that allow students to view their contributions and take ownership of this space we share together. I look forward to creating an environment students feel excited to be in each day and one in which they can see their hard word displayed back to them.
