My Project

We serve students with a wide range of strengths and support needs, including many who are nonverbal or developing functional communication. Our students learn best through visual supports, structured routines, hands-on materials, and sensory experiences that help them stay focused and engaged.

The items in this project will help us create a more organized, accessible, and student-centered learning environment.

The collapsible fabric bins, plastic cubby containers, and colorful paper trays will allow us to sort and label learning materials, sensory tools, and visual supports making it easier for students to navigate the classroom independently and with less anxiety.

The painter’s tape will help create defined workspaces, individual task areas, and visual boundaries throughout the room. Laminating pouches and dry erase markers are essential for building durable, reusable visual aids such as communication boards, behavior supports, and academic task cards tailored to each student’s needs.

We’ve also included a Teachers Pay Teachers gift card, which will allow us to purchase high-quality, age-appropriate resources specifically designed for older students with autism. These include adapted reading and math materials, social stories, communication tools, and functional life skills activities critical areas of focus in our classroom.

To support sensory regulation and engagement, we’re requesting Play-Doh and dot markers, which are developmentally appropriate tools that support fine motor skills, creativity, and calming sensory input. Though simple, these items are powerful supports for students who benefit from tactile input to stay focused and participate in learning.

Finally, the small, colorful storage baskets will help keep individual materials organized and within easy reach promoting independence and smooth transitions throughout the day.
