My Students

"Nothing has such power to broaden the mind as the ability to investigate systematically and truly all that comes under thy observation in life." Marcus Aurelius

My students have a great love for learning and exploration of new ideas, especially through the world of science.

They come from diverse backgrounds and have many different learning styles, strengths, and needs. They all love to explore the world around them, are inspired by natural phenomena, and are driven by knowing how and why things behave as they do.

Our Title I school is located in a rural town and we are a very close-knit community. Many of the families at our school have been in the district for generations.

My Project

I am thrilled to have just found out that I will be teaching 5th grade science during the next school year. I am currently teaching an AIS & Enrichment class. Many of our enrichment lessons were focused on STEM activities. It was wonderful to see the students so engaged in what they were doing because they were exploring, problem solving, and coming to their own conclusions. The thought of being able to witness that every day, all day long through teaching science is beyond exciting for me.

Part of being a proper scientist is having the proper tools.

While the 6th grade science teacher (who is currently the 5th and 6th grade science teacher) will gladly lend me tools, I want to be sure the students have ready access to the tools they need to be successful within my classroom. I have created this project in hopes of beginning to build a supply of the resources and tools students needs to be successful in science. The digital microscope that connects to any electronic device will help them explore a world they cannot see with the naked eye. The measurement tools will help them to better understand the many properties of matter. The goggles will reinforce the need for safety and caution in science. The reference and experiment books will fill them with information and give them choices for pursuing their own interests in science. Each and every tool or resource will aid in fostering the students' abilities to be the most successful scientists they can be!

Thank you for taking the time to read my project and for any support you can offer! These resources will foster learning for years to come.
