This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Coming from a low-income community, most of my students do not have the funds or resources to further their mathematical and science understanding. As we exit a pandemic which has greatly impacted students' ability to receive high-quality instruction, especially when it comes to math, due to lack of academic resources and high quality instruction opportunities. We are faced with a great learning gap which needs to be addressed via instructional aids to ensure that these students are able to achieve each and every of their academic goals. As I teach both math and science course at my school these supplies will help to create hands on learning assignments which will aid in sharping students enjoyment within both fields.

The number line will be placed are students desk as a visual aid to help students understand the differences between positive & negative numbers and additional mathematical concepts.

As the school year progresses, we will add new concepts such as absolute value, square root, cube roots, fractions, and integers. The board game and math workbooks will help create more interactive math instruction, aiding student engagement and retention. These supplies will help this group of students and students in years to follow as they will be reused to maximize their impact.
