Setting Up a 7th Grade Science Classroom

Help me give my students the opportunity to be involved and interactive with new science concepts with headphones, dry erase markers and boards, and pencils with erasers.

My Project

I am a new teacher trying to set up a 7th grade science classroom. I was left with some supplies but I have plans to make my classroom more interactive with my students than I'm currently able to. I'm still figuring out what activities work best in my class but I look forward to being able to take concept practice to another level. I work at a public middle school which in Sarasota county, Florida.

I'm looking to make my classroom more interactive and I think that white boards and dry erase markers will help to make this possible.

Currently I'm only able to ask questions and receive answers verbally when going over new concepts and I only have a few students who will answer. By implementing white boards into my classroom, I think I can achieve a higher level of student participation and practice. With white board practice activities, I can also see where my students are with understanding the concepts that we're learning. As I mentioned, I am a new teacher starting at the middle of the school year and I am short on supplies. My students often need to borrow pencils and the erasers on those pencils wear down quickly so that presents a need for pencils and erasers to go with them.

My students are great and so far we've built good relationships and have made major progress since they've had substitute teachers since September. Many of my students have shown a strong interest in science. I have a healthy mix of students that are outspoken, answer and ask questions and students that are quiet but still show that they're learning through our classwork. Id like the opportunity to involve all of my students whether they're outspoken or quiet.
