This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." --Arthur C. Clarke Advanced technology seems to be at our fingertips, but not everyone is fortunate to have continued access to its "magic."

My students are some of the most wonderful people I have ever met.

I teach four sections Anatomy & Physiology to juniors and seniors and one section of Physical Science to freshmen at a low-income inner city school in Connecticut. They aspire to graduate high school and proceed to college or a career in the future, and they inspire me to be the best teacher I can possibly be for them. Unfortunately my students do not have access to many of the resources I took for granted as a high school student, such as working computers and textbooks, yet this does not stop them from wanting to succeed.

My Project

There are numerous times when students come into my classroom before or after school or during my planning period and ask to use my computer to write a paper, do a project, or even do research. Unfortunately the only functional computer I have in my room is my personal laptop, and many times I have to do work on it. Access to another technological resource for my students would fundamentally improve my classroom in myriad ways. An iPad would also give my students access to amazing, in-depth "apps" that can be used as study tools. Many of my Anatomy & Physiology students are highly visual learners, and an iPad would provide in-depth human anatomy apps that students could use to further their knowledge and curiosity. Furthermore, a few of my students are learning English for the first time. The iPad would provide them with an English translator that would be easier to use than the translators on their phones.

Your donation would be highly appreciated by my students and myself, as it would facilitate their learning both inside and outside of the classroom.

They want so badly to succeed, and their current situations should not limit their ability to do so.
