My Students

Our school is filled with students who love to be entertained! They are into gadgets, lights, music and sound! The more noise and fun the better! Our students come from diverse backgrounds, and we have a variety of cultures represented in our classroom! The diversity doesn't end with their cultural backgrounds. Our students learning styles are diverse too! Out of our 44 students, 1/3 of them are considered Gifted and Talented, almost half are students learning in a 2nd language, and some have learning differences such as dyslexia, communication disorders or autism.

Hurricane Harvey a year ago, devastated our community.

Our students are resilient, smart, and deserve to have teachers who embody being a lifelong learner! Learning doesn't stop once you leave high school, and we want to demonstrate that for our kids!

My Project

This is the staff development that no one wants to miss! In the age of electronics, as a teacher, it's hard to compete with bright lights, sound, games, and engaging characters. This conference will help me! It's divided by grade levels so a teacher can attend the grade level that best matches their students. Within that, each day focuses on content areas taught, and gives the teacher strategies, best teaching practices, and activities to engage and motivate even the most reluctant learner.

I want to learn how to incorporate engaging strategies in my teaching to better reach this new generation of learners.

Our students are smart. Our students are driven, however, we want to let them be KIDS! Kids deserve a classroom where their teacher is just a motivated as they are. Kids deserve a classroom filled with engaging classroom practices that make them excited to come to school the next day. Sitting in regular desks in rows, using traditional textbooks, listening to a teacher lecture, and taking notes, does not work on this multi-faceted generation driven by technology. They are growing up in a world with instant gratification and entertainment at their fingertips. Teachers and schools have to keep up- which is why I have to GET MY TEACH ON!
