it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Remember using mass sets in physics? They were used in labs like finding speed, velocity and acceleration of objects!
My students are a mix of low and high income urban students in Utah.
I teach six sections of physics and have 170 students. I teach general physics, honors physics, AP and IB Physics. The students all love applied science and hands-on activities.
My Project
My students need additional mass weight sets and a demo spring scale. We use hooked masses in so many labs throughout the year. They are used in mechanics labs to propel toy cars, and they are used in spring labs to teach Hooke's Law. They are used in circular motion labs to determine the gravitational acceleration. These masses will help crack Balsa wood bridges and unbalance see-saws! I also love to solve theoretical problems that I can demonstrate. I would love to use the demo spring scale to show everyone that the calculated tension force on a cable is really what Newton's 2nd Law predicts it will be.
Helping me stock up my physics classroom enables me to teach in an engaging way for my students.
The spark of physics and science may lead the younger generation to become engineers, scientists and doctors. This will help our society become a better place for all of us to enjoy.
