My students need dinnerware and utensils so that we can serve the food that we prepare in our lifeskills class.
This project expired on May 22, 2018.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
My students are young adults with disabilities who are working on the transition from high school to adult life.
We are working on cooking skills, budgeting, household chores, and job readiness to give my students the best possible start in their adult lives when they leave high school.
We have a wonderful classroom with a kitchen that we can use to work on our skills, but we do not have dishes, utensils, and enough pots and pans to cook as a class.
My students are learning to cook. Right now, they eat the meals they have made off of paper towels or out of paper cups with plastic utensils. We want to use real dishes and utensils and practice setting the table, washing dishes, and other real-world skills. We have a few pots and pans that have been donated by staff, but not enough for all of my students to participate fully in our cooking activities.
With a full set of dishes and silverware, we will all be able to fully participate in our activities.
My students would love to set a nice table and sit down as a class to enjoy the food they prepare.
