Help me give my students series books on their reading levels so they can grow with their characters, and acquire a love for reading.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Haq's classroom raised $250

My Students
My students are the most caring, unique, and energetic students you will meet. All of my students are diagnosed with different disabilities, and many of them are English Language Learners (ELL) as well. They come from low-income families and receive free, school breakfast and lunch. Despite all this, they are filled with curiosity and are always eager to learn. The students in my class love to engage in fun activities, especially listening to and reading books that take them to a whole new world.
My Project
Most of my students do not enjoy reading, mainly because they are struggling readers. The first step I have to take as their teacher is to try to make reading more enjoyable for them. With this project, I am hoping to create a spark for my students that will lead them to grow a love for reading.
My fourth graders are at the age where they pick up on everything; they are aware that they are below grade level and are embarrassed to read books that look "easy.'' I want to be able to provide them with interesting series books on their reading levels.
Not only will they be able to read the books, but they will have the capability of applying reading skills while they read. With series books they will be able to travel with a character across books, notice their behavior patterns, learn about character motivation, provide character traits, as well as learn life lessons that they can apply in their own lives. These series books will enable them to feel confident and encouraged to keep reading. They can also bring these books home and share with their families which will in return build a better reading life for all.
