This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Have you ever gotten hooked on a book series as a child or even as an adult? Recall the anticipation and excitement you felt waiting for the the next installment of your favorite series and then finally having that book in your hand. My students share that excitement and joy of devouring books in their favorite series. They are voracious readers who are craving to discover new adventures scattered within the pages of their favorite stories.

My students are inquisitive, compassionate and creative with a wide range of educational needs, but a sincere love of reading and learning.

The students value each book they can get their hands on. As English language learners and students with special needs, books are so important to their learning. My classroom library is an essential resource for my students. Many of them do not have access to books at home and rely on our class library to take home texts that are just right for them.

My Project

Every time my students go shopping for books I get the same question, "do you have any new books?". The looks of excitement and anticipation on their faces as they wait for the answer brings me joy. It represents their love of reading. I am requesting new series and chapter books to help fill the shelves of my classroom library. The books I choose include a variety of genres that will help my students visit far off lands, or solve a mystery. Many of these books are continuations to series I already have in my classroom, new editions written by some of our favorite authors.

The books will captivate and continue to develop my students love of reading, a gift that will last them a lifetime.

Your donation will help me accomplish a major goal, filling my classroom library with high interest book. It is a challenge to maintain a full and engaging book collection for my 75 students. Our school has a small budget for purchasing new books as such we get very few new books in a year. With your support of this project, my students can have access to the books they want to read, and develop the skills they need to succeed.
