Series Books for Second Graders

Help me give my students a series of books of all levels for our 2nd Grade literacy studies.

My Project

This September I am starting a new chapter and moving up to 2nd grade with some of my past students. I am excited about this new start, but because I have spent the majority of my years teaching Kindergarten and First grade, my classroom needs to be brought up to speed. In 2nd grade, there is a big focus on reading series books, something we did not have much of in Kindergarten and First grade.

Reading series books allows students to see themselves through the lives of the characters, their actions, and their motivations.

They also begin to use higher-order thinking skills to analyze themes, plots, and other literary elements. This project will help us stock our classroom library with all the latest and greatest series such as Pedro, Katie Woo, and more. We will read these books together in class and students will also have a chance to borrow them to read independently at home.
