Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our students are amazing! Our school is creating a calm room during unstructured times of the day to increase our support for all students. This would be during recess and lunch. A place where students can go if they are having a tough time regulating their feelings.

The purpose of the calm room is to provide emotional support for students and to create a safe and calming place for them to use their coping skills.

By providing flexible, and fun seating, sensory play, music, and relaxing activities, we hope students are able to finish out their day on a positive note to be the best child they can be.

The products that I have selected are just the start of creating our Calm Room, which we are going to call our Serenity Room. Flexible seating helps give students the freedom to choose. Sensory play items to calm big emotions and just some fun activities that are not available in a regular classroom.
