Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I teach 4th and 5th grade Montessori in a public school system. It is very important to me to try and instill a love of reading. I want to share picture books that create a class bond, create a love for reading, and model affective reading.

Read alouds connect students with real world events, such as The Wump World by Bill Peet will be read on National Wildlife Day that is an exceptional expose of human corruption, the insidiousness of conglomerate, money-hungry corporations, and a chilling foreshadowing of horrors to come if something is not done to save our planet.

Many other books will be read such as, A Job for Wittilda by Carolyn and Mark Beechner.
