Help me give my students markers, colored pencils, mechanical pencils, and other school supplies so that they can feel safe to do their work without fear of Covid spreading.
Six feet apart and no shared materials make life in a school classroom a very big challenge. As we face the return to school, the time of year when school supplies are available in stores is past and the cost has increased. My students need their own separate materials that they can have for class that they don't have to share.
The world that my students knew in the past has drastically changed this year and I want their return to school to be easy and stress-free.
In order to accomplish this, we need to have supplies for each child so that everyone stays safe while they learn. In this case not sharing is showing how much you care.
We are a very diverse school. We are located just outside of a joint military base. We serve a high number of students who have parents in the military. My students come from low economic status, to begin with, and with the onset of the pandemic they have been hit extra hard. The ultimate goal is to learn and be successful and I don't want anything to be a barrier to that success.
My Project
Standards for any elementary classroom are that the students typically have shared supplies on their tables. With the Covid pandemic, this is no longer a possibility. Students must now have their own separate school supplies.
In order to be successful in school, you need to feel safe and not worry that you can't do your work because you can't afford school supplies to do the work.
This is why I am asking for scissors, Crayola colored pencils, and Mr. Sketch Markers. Each child will get a supply storage box that will contain some of the things that they need to do their daily work. This way no one has to share items and no one has to feel bad if they don't have something.
The students will be receiving Elmer's glue to complete art activities for a break. They will also get several #2 mechanical pencils, and lead refills, as well as dry-erase markers and an eraser so no one has to leave their desk to get anything or sharpen their pencil if it breaks. Having their own supplies will make a world of difference in not spreading germs and allowing the students to work.
