Help me give my students the tools they need to access language! These materials will be used to create sentence strips for students to learn the syntax of English using hands-on strategies.
My students are English Language Learners, and in our class, we do A LOT of "play" with sentences and vocabulary! With these materials, I will be able to create the sentence strips I need to support my students and engage them with the language.
Learning language can sometimes feel mundane and like "drill work," but sentence strips and color-coded vocabulary make the language learning fun and interactive!
When students are able to engage with the materials in a hands-on activity, they are more likely to comprehend the information as well as retain it.
The materials I am requesting are the brightly colored copy paper - so I can color code the different grammar aspects (punctuation, parts of speech, etc.) - and the paper cutter. The paper cutter is instrumental for sentence strips, because scissors take too long and they are also ineffective for cutting large quantities of paper. Additionally, the highlighters will help my students to color code information. Color coding the grammar and parts of speech further reinforces comprehension and retention of the lesson. Therefore, these materials would be greatly appreciated in my classroom!
