Sensory/Self-Regulating Space for Special Education Preschool
Help me give my students a Chewy Sampler Set, Sensory Ball Pack, Ooze tubes and more that have textured surfaces, and visual stimulating, self-regulating supports can be used as teaching tools for children with autism.
The Chewy Sampler Set, Sensory Ball Pack, Ooze tubes and more with textured surfaces, and visual stimulating, self-regulating supports will be incorporated and rotated materials for my students. With the classroom being a special education, many of my students have an IEP and are on the spectrum. The listed materials will support my calm area in my classroom. This calm area is for the student that becomes over-stimulated and needs a break from the daily routines. These materials also support and help students during teacher-led activities, transitions, and peer interactions. These sensory-based materials are designed to stimulate one or more of the senses. My goal is to help the students remain calm, relaxed, and focus by providing the sensory experience they want/need. These materials help them grasp objects with decreased dear and discomfort, ultimately helping them play naturally. Furthermore, these sensory toys help develop social learning skills like negotiating, planning, and sharing.
