This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My classroom is full of energetic, bright, and unique learners who benefit from incorporating sensory play into their daily routine. I teach students with special needs, including autism, ADHD, and sensory processing challenges. For them, hands-on materials are more than just fun—they're essential tools that help them learn, self-regulate, and thrive in the classroom environment. Many of my students struggle with focus, transitions, and big emotions. Sensory items like kinetic sand, Play-Doh, sand timers, and whisper phones give them calming outlets and encourage self-regulation, creativity, and independence. These tools also help students stay engaged and participate more fully in classroom activities.
