This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach bright, unique, awesome autistic learners who process the world in ways that may differ from their peers. They often communicate through gestures, expressions, or assistive technology, demonstrating deep understanding and curiosity in their own ways. These students have sensory sensitivities, preferring structured environments or certain textures, sounds, and routines that help them feel secure. Their learning styles vary, and they often thrive with visual supports, hands-on activities, and individualized instruction tailored to their strengths. With the right tools, they blossom into confident, engaged participants in the classroom.

Sensory tools are essential for helping students regulate their emotions, focus, and actively engage in learning.

For students with sensory sensitivities or communication challenges, these tools provide comfort, reduce overload, and enhance participation. Items like fidget toys, weighted blankets, or visual supports help students feel secure while improving attention and interaction. Sensory tools also foster independence, giving students strategies to manage their own needs and thrive in the classroom. By incorporating these tools, I can help to create an inclusive environment where every learner can succeed.
