My Students

My students are an exceptional group of children who exhibit great perseverance, strength, and positive attitudes. They have a variety of physical, sensory, and cognitive needs that require them to learn and engage in their environment in different ways, but they never let anything get in the way of becoming more independent.

My students inspire those around them on a daily basis.

They attend a large, public school and work hard to achieve their academic, social, and physical goals through hard work. This year has brought a lot of unexpected changes, something that many of my students might struggle with, but they have continued to grow and work hard!

My Project

These materials and products will necessary sensory input for accessible for my students. Many of my students have sensory processing disorder and/or are highly affected by their need for specific sensory input. Without this, they are less likely to be successful due to decreased engagement, increased need to seek sensory input elsewhere, and negative behaviors. Sensory input is a necessary component of my students' daily lives.

These materials will be able to provide students with a variety of sensory opportunities.

The trampoline, slide, and crash pad will provide higher-intensity sensory opportunities. The tent will provide more calming opportunities and a place where students can take necessary breaks from stimulation. Finally, the adhesive will help us safely secure items in place in order to make sure our sensory areas is safe for all students. The wall partitions will help us make sure that the sensory area is accessible at pre-determined times so that we can still maintain our daily schedule and promote academic and functional skill success.
