My students are extremely special. They do not judge, nor do they let "the small things" affect their mood or behavior. They are resilient, tolerant, and consistent. They attend a public elementary school and spend the majority of their day in a self-contained classroom. However, they accompany the general education to special area and enjoy being around their peers in different situations. The students enjoy being outside and going for walks in the community. They are non-verbal but have developed many different ways to communicate. They require accommodations throughout the day and enjoy a routine. They recognize familiar people, places, and objects and show strong preferences! They especially enjoy music, working with the Smart board, and books, although each student has their own personal favorites.
